We believe the nature of the church is one of divine origin,

divine leadership, and divine purposes.

Divine Origin: Christ instituted the church as a vital part of

God's divine plan for man.  The origin of the church was in and

through Christ.

(Eph. 1:22-23) (II Cor. 5:17)

Divine Leadership:  Christ is the head of the church and provides continuing leadership.

The church is His body.

 (Acts 20:28) (Matt. 28:18)

Divine Purpose:  is to evangelize a lost world to God through faith in Jesus Christ,

teaching them to obey God in all things, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son,

and the Holy Spirit.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the

Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things

I have commanded you: Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end

of the world. (Matt. 28:19-20) ΆΩ

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall have everlasting life. (John 3:16)  ΆΩ

"Regaining our Kingdom Authority"

Topic: "There Is a Danger In Hanging Out On The Ledge - The Fall of Fortunate"
Text: Acts 20:7-12
Sunday January 1, 2012

Points
1. He allowed himself to be put in a place of openness:
vs.9 "and there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus"
a. he allowed himself to be put in a place of vulnerability (the window)
b. that he could be easily wounded or injured
c. that he could be open to hurt, criticism, or attack
d. He allowed himself to be put in a place where he could be influenced by a specified weakness or temptations

2. He didn't make the adjustments to the word: vs.9 "being fallen, and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep"
a. he didn't reposition himself where he could receive the word and be revived out of his sleepiness
b. he didn't come back to the place where the light was he just hung out there on the ledge
c. he didn't reassemble himself with the rest of the saints where he could get some help to stay woke
d. he didn't pay attention to the warning signs that he had human weakness and was getting sleepy in place of vulnerability and in a season of time he fell from grace

3. Fell from the window but not from His grace: vs.10 "and Paul went down, and fell on him, embracing him, trouble not yourselves; for his life is  in him"
a. Grace came where he was - "Paul went down"
b. Grace fell on him - "and fell on him"
c. Grace embraced him - "embracing him said"
d. Grace spoke peace - "trouble not yourselves"
e. By His Grace I will live again - "for life is still in him" covered

4. But don't abuse His grace - Romans 6:1-16 - "shall we continue to sin even though we know we have grace, God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin, keep doing the same ole' sins that we are doing?" (paraphrased)
